Be Creative

It’s hard to believe Halloween is quickly approaching! We wanted to make a pumpkin that would glow during the day, similar to how a jack-o-lantern glows at night! This pumpkin suncatcher is an easy and fun craft to make to hang in the window and display all day long!

Materials needed:

Free printables:

Directions:

Print the front and back pumpkin and pumpkin face printables.

Roll out the Con-Tact paper and lay the pumpkin printables on top.

Cut the Con-Tact paper in half to fit the size of each piece of paper.

Cut out each pumpkin outline. I find it’s easier to start from the middle.

Carefully cut the inside and perimeter of each pumpkin.

Lay one piece of paper size contact paper horizontally (smooth side down) on a table. Place an object on the paper to help keep it in place as you slowly pull back the paper liner.

Tape the top middle and corners down onto a table. The sticky side should be facing up once paper is pulled back.

Tape the bottom of the Con-Tact paper down onto the table. Lay one of the pumpkin outlines (color side down) onto the sticky Con-Tact paper.

Cut green tissue paper into dime size pieces.

Cut orange tissue paper into quarter size pieces.

Craft table ready to use!

Place the green tissue paper onto the pumpkin stem (try not to exceed the white outline).

Place orange tissue paper onto the body of the pumpkin (try not to exceed the white outline).

Place the other pumpkin outline (color side down) onto the sticky side of the other piece of Con-Tact paper.

Place the pumpkin outline on top of the finished tissue pumpkin. Start by lining up the stems.

Slowly press and roll the Con-Tact paper down the pumpkin.

Smooth out the Con-Tact paper.

Cut around the pumpkin.

Leave a small edge around the pumpkin for the Con-Tact paper to stick together.

Cut out the pumpkin face.

Glue the face onto the Pumpkin.

Punch a hole in the top of the pumpkin stem.

Tie twine or ribbon through the hole.

We added a sweet pink bow to our pumpkin! 🙂

Our daughter really enjoyed seeing the pumpkin glow when held up to the window!

A cute pumpkin to display on your front door, window or car for Trunk-or-Treat! I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween! 🙂
