Be Creative

There’s nothing better than a kid’s painting craft that is mess-free! Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great for kids to explore with different textures and make a mess from time to time, but sometimes it’s nice to not have a big mess to clean up! Am I right? 😉 This is a simple and fun craft your littles can make with items you have at home!

Materials needed:

Directions:

Trace your desired shape onto the paper.

Randomly place drops of paint in different colors within the shape. Carefully place inside a Ziploc bag.

*Tip: Slightly bend the paper (hot dog style) upward while pushing into the Ziploc so the paint doesn’t smear on the edge of the bag.

Let the fun begin! Have your child push and spread the paint around. Little fingers make the best paintbrushes! Our 16 month old also enjoyed making one!

Once they are done playing with the paint, carefully pull the paper out of the Ziploc by slightly folding (hot dog style) again. Allow them to dry.

*Tip: Pull the Ziploc bag straight up off of the paper before pulling the paper out (this will prevent smudging the paint).

Cut out your shape!

We played around with a few different color combinations! We used acrylic paint for the second heart (pink and red) versus Crayola which was used for the first heart (purple and red). The acrylic resulted in a thicker paint finish.

Remove paper from Ziploc bag once done painting and allow to dry.

Cut out your shape. If you look above, you will notice the bottom right heart looks more smudged (this was due to it smearing when removed from the Ziploc bag). To prevent this, make sure to pull the bag away from the painted paper before pulling it out.

These would make great gifts for kids to give to their Parents or Grandparents for Valentine’s Day!  The possibilities are endless with this one! ♥
